Kim & Eli

High School Sweethearts who waited 15 years to make it official. Their October 14, 2023 art-centric wedding was held at the Frist Art Museum, Nashville’s architectural pride and joy and an art deco - lovers dream. Impeccable fashion, custom scented candles and diffusers, dancers, wine pairings and bold flowers and colors made this wedding a guest experience that no one will forget.

The Design

  • Frist Art Museum

This exclusive venue, once Nashville’s postal offices, only holds several weddings per year. Its unique art deco style is the inspiration for most of the design choices for this wedding.

  • Transformation

We completely transformed the ballroom with fully draped walls and ceiling, custom lighting, signature scented candles and bold, monochromatic red florals.

  • Dinner

Guests experienced wine pairings throughout the evening, with wine selected by Kim & Eli’s sommelier, Kéra Golombisky. Dessert, 3 flavors of wedding cake by Audrey’s pastry chef, Rach Cakes, and “his and hers” trifles, were served on dessert carts.

Kim & ELi

Kim & Eli met in 8th grade and first dated at the end of their freshman year of high school. Eli was Kim's first kiss, and they had to pick up Eli's little brother (and best man), Mac, from drum practice on their first date when Mac was 12. After Kim and Eli broke up after their three-month romance, they were on and off “just friends” for three years. Senior year, during a break, they were both horrified to learn that they were cast as ex-lovers in the fall theater production at school—playing characters who kiss on stage and resume their relationship by the end of the play. Fiction became reality after high school graduation as Kim and Eli started a relationship.

They dated long-distance while in undergrad programs and talked about getting married after Eli graduated law school. Then, Kim’s father passed away suddenly and tragically in 2011 before their senior year of college. They were picking up those pieces and navigating his estate during a large portion of Eli’s time in law school.

Kim did some small television and music video roles - primarily extra and featured extra work. This culminated in attending an open casting call for the lead roles in the new major motion picture from a movie series you’ve definitely heard of. She was selected for an audition callback where she had to perform a brief scene and got extremely positive feedback. While she was not selected to move on to the final round of auditions, she was informed that she was considered one of the top contenders for the lead role for the next stage, and that she should continue pursuing other roles.

An overacheiever in all things, it was at that moment that Kim decided to shift gears, quit acting, and pursue law. Kim took the LSAT and committed to attend Belmont Law in Fall 2015, right after Eli graduated law school. So, they attended law school "consecutively" as a couple for six whole years.

When Kim graduated in Fall 2018, they wanted to have a year or two with job stability before planning a wedding. They thought 2020 would be the perfect time to start the wedding conversation … and we all know what happened next. In addition to the pandemic, Eli's mom, Ellen, was diagnosed with cancer and they wanted to protect her health and recovery. When her health rebounded, Eli proposed NYE 2021, and Kim "counter" proposed in Spring 2022 and they began planning an autumn wedding!

15 whole years in the making!

The Wedding Gown

Kim’s Dress Story

“It was an amazing experience [finding my wedding gown], and it felt like it was predestined. Ines diSanto has been my favorite wedding dress designer for years. I tried on some older styles in local (Nashville) shops, and while they were gorgeous, they didn't quite speak to me like her new styles did. I saw her Fall 2023 runway show in October 2022 and knew those styles fit the exact vibe I wanted. The only problem was that she did not have a trunk show anywhere near us.

A few weeks later, on Ines's Instagram, she reposted a story about her upcoming trunk shows featuring the Fall 2023 styles. One just happened to be at Ultimate Bride in Chicago, and I already had to fly to a work conference in Chicago the next morning. I thought that surely, their appointments were all booked, but there was a single opening listed an hour after I was scheduled to land.

I rushed from the airport directly to the shop and tried on several of the Fall 2023 styles, along with some other dresses from recent seasons. I became torn between two styles and began doubting whether I wanted to purchase a dress without my friends and family. My wonderful consultant, Amanda, gave me all the details I would need to make a decision before the trunk show ended. However, just looking at photos and facts about the dresses on paper did not make my decision any easier. I continued obsessing over the photos and comparisons to other styles during the rest of the week.

Just when I was doubting whether I wanted to purchase either gown, I saw another story on Ines's Instagram saying that she was going to be in Chicago the next day for her trunk show at Ultimate Bride. However, my flight was scheduled for the next morning! I quickly messaged Amanda asking whether they had any openings for that day, and as fate would have it, there was yet again only one left. I rescheduled my flight so I could make the appointment.

When I showed up, Ines was there and saw me try on an intricate beaded and lace dress from a prior season that felt like the right vintage glamour for our wedding, but something still felt off. Ines said it was beautiful on me, but it still didn't feel like the right fit.

Then, I tried on the Fall 2023 Blaze gown again. It is a classic, sleek silk gown with a low back and structured seaming--the perfect combination of a classic vintage style with a few modern touches. My stylist had the genius idea to pair it with the flowing Robin cape (that had a cowl back that somehow exactly matched the back of the gown) and a beaded belt used as a drop back necklace. I had found my gown.

The next moment, I heard "DARLING!" and saw Ines and her daughter, Veronica, walking around the corner. Ines rushed over to me and said I was the exact bride she envisioned wearing this gown when she designed it. She then said that I reminded her of her best friend from Italy and that I seemed to share a similar spirit with her friend. When I told her it was the gown I was choosing, she then held my hands and said she blessed me and my decision and said it was the perfect dress for me. I believe I was the first (or one of the first) in the world to buy that dress. I then took photos with Ines and Veronica after getting dressed and celebrated finding the gown with a glass of champagne. Truly a magical experience!”

Eli’s Fashion

Eli wore a custom tuxedo by Richards Bespoke. Eli wanted to pay homage to the roaring 20s but look modern. He opted for velvet accents and a white tie and vest. As usual, his nails were polished black and hair was perfectly coifed.

Eli also wore Alexander McQueen cufflinks (his favorite designer) and a Movado watch gifted to him by his father.

2nd Look

Kim’s second look is an AMUR Judah Strapless - inspired by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and matches the reception draping. Kim selected this dress so that she could move and dance freely!
